WOMENS’ LEADERSHIP RETREAT IN BALI

By: Kathy Lane

Date: Sept 2016

OK. OK. I know! A Leaders In Life Womens’ Leadership Retreat in ‘Bali’. Really? Just another excuse for a holiday, right?

To all you doubting Thomases out there, this is actually going to be a confronting, challenging and sometimes scary journey methinks. Seven women, one male facilitator, some strong personalities, our varying intentions and agendas. I reckon we’re in for a ride.

Bali

Today we arrived at the Bagus Jati Villas, just outside Ubud. An insanely beautiful location, stepped into the side of lush green hills, villas on stilts peering out over the lush ravine of the Jati River below. This is forest country and the really beautiful Bali.

After an arrival lunch of Gado Gado and Nasi Goreng, natch, we had our first meeting with our facilitator, the wonderful Jem Fuller who gave us the overview of what to expect for the next four days. Our intentions are to:

  • Rest
  • Rejuvenate
  • Learn
  • Grow

Flower Mandala

Now that sounds like work-life balance right there.

And I’m not going to lie, this place is magnificent and every day starts with yoga and meditation and ends with a massage, swim and dinner produced from organic fruit and vegies grown on the property.

It. Is. Perfect. So far.

And tomorrow the real work begins. And whilst I’m sure deep self-reflection, assessment, learning and discovering how we can become better leaders won’t be no garden party, we could be in worse places. I’m dropping in, letting go, relinquishing control and going with the flow and for anyone who knows me, that’s my first challenge right there.

Sampai Lain waktu (until next time).
